Girl Turns Birthday Party into Fundraiser
Maya Bode gave up her birthday presents this year to help raise money for her Odyssey of the Mind team that will represent Shepardson Elementary and Fort Collins in the World Finals in Maryland.
She followed in her big brother, Evan’s, footsteps as Evan also held a fundraising birthday party at Chipper’s for his 10th birthday a few years ago.
Maya contacted the owners of Chipper’s to work out a special deal for her entire 5th grade class, handed out the invitations and then followed up on them by phone and email to find out how many of her classmates would be joining her.
With almost 50 students at her bowling birthday celebration they were able to raise over $500 for the Odyssey of the Mind team which was a big accomplishment and probably one of the neatest presents Maya could have received.
